February 2022 - winter

winter! snow, skiing, woods, Three Oaks, footprints in snow, catalpa seeds, and more

Check out my daily blog for the month of February 2022 (Churoo 2022). My blog shows various activities that I do in science, art, nature, culture, land stewardship,
culture, education, ecology, economy, health, and in learning about holistic good, morals, and beyond. I post several photos. Enjoy!

Skiing through the Snowy Woods.  In February, Three Oaks, Michigan, got a lovely 1-foot (30 cm) of snow, which stuck to the trees.  See my photos of snow, in Three Oaks, and while skiing in the woods, in my daily blog.

Catalpa Seeds in the Snow.  What's Happening at Dillard Park?  See my photos of tracks across the snow and the catalpa tree, in my daily blog.

         Happy Winter: January, February, March!

  1. Thanks for sharing the awesome and gorgeous snow photos. We finally got snow in February in central IL, but not nearly the amount or beauty that you got. I love seeing you skiing and miss doing that. You mention cross country ski and skate ski trails - what are skate ski trails?

It was fun again to examine your tracks photos and see the catalpa tree from a distance and up close - especially the seed case. The view of Feb and June as a comparison was great.

I explored your Holistic Land Care link that took me to Pond G. The info wasn't really recent until the last photo which I also saw elsewhere. Your debris hut was intriguing and I wished for more info or a link on how to make one. It might be helpful to have your long daily logs run chronological with the most recent being first so one doesn't have to scroll a long way down to find recent information.

I followed links to the daily blog land care entries tp ice in five ways which took me to 2018!

  2. The photo under where I wrote "cross country ski and skate ski trails" shows that exactly. There is a person skate skiing on the left, and a person cross country skiing on the right. You know, a cross country ski trail is the double groove track. At Love Creek County Park, for a skate ski trail, they seem to plow / rake about a six-feet-wide smooth area with little ridges. Cross country skiing typically skies go straight forward. For skate skiing, the skies usually go out at an angle so that it looks like "W"s are made in the snow.

Thank you for admiring my winter and summer catalpa tree photos.

Plus, I'm glad that you delighted in surfing my website:
www.z-hub.org Thank you for enjoying it.

I think the past 10 or 20 years is recent. Just because Harry Potter books were written over 10 years ago, doesn't mean we should stop reading them. Anyway, a debris hut made 10 years ago and 10,000 years ago is made the same way. But thank you for enjoying my Holistic Landcare page. I'm glad you're very interested in learning how to make a debris hut. I spend only so much time on my blog. My nature classes cover how to make a debris hut.

In 2018-2019 my daily blogs were true daily blogs, at which I posted text and photo(s), each day, and the most recent days were up top. Now my daily blogs are organized by a topic within a month, so the photos are not chronological, but they are all within the same month. Other pages on my z-hub.org website are information pages on topics with current valid information, even if the photos are a few years old.

For example, there's my January 2019 daily blog, each day there's a blog post and photo(s), and the most recent days are posted up top. January 2019 also goes more into how to make a debris hut, if you are curious, my January 2019 daily blog is
