Fall - Baby Turtles - Warm October.   This October, Michigan had many warm days.  Plus, October 10th was a hot 80 degrees F (26 degrees C).  This month was very green. The leaves slowly changed color.  But it was fun to find baby turtles, on different days.  To my delight, I held a baby Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina), a baby Wood Turtle (Glyptemys insculpta), and a baby Spiny Softshell Turtle (Apalone spinifera).   See my photos of baby turtles, in my daily blog.

10th Anniversary for Galien Valley Nature and Culture Program.  For 10 years, I've been teaching interdisciplinary classes relating to nature, culture, science, art, history, ecology, economy, the ABC Garden, and more.  See my photos of my classes this fall October 2021, in my daily blog.

         Happy Fall: October-November-December.

  1. Thanks for sharing the phenological information comparing from previous years. I was in your area the week of October 11 hoping to see some fall color and as you noted, there was little to be seen. I wish I had had time to visit your center - perhaps another time.

I enjoyed your information about turtles. I found a baby snapping turtle once on Halloween at least two hundred yards from the creek at Meadowbrook Park's prairie. I am guessing that it was carried there by a predator and dropped, but who knows.

A few notes about your formatting - centering text is hard and tiring for the reader to follow. Try centering only titles and left margin text after that. Also, all the bolding is overkill. Try picking one topic for each day and shorten your blog to that topic only. You have a lot of great information, but it is too much and too varied. The reader gets lost.
